寒い日が続きますね！そんな日はRyan先生とあの場所をおもいだしてみましょう♪"All written in English"
How was your New Year's holiday?
Did you eat a lot of good food?
January is one of the coldest months of the year
in many places around the world,
except for the southern countries
like Australia and New Zealand.
I hate cold weather
so I thought I'd think about Hawaii.
I lived in Hawaii for 8 years
and really enjoyed the warm weather.
But even there, January is cool.
Sometimes I needed to wear a jacket
and long pants instead of
my normal T-shirt and shorts.
Also in January,
the waves on the northern sides of the islands are large.
It is great to sit on the beach
and watch and listen to the huge waves come in.
Sometimes there are extreme surfing competitions to watch.
It also tends to be rainier
during January and February in Hawaii.
When the weather is too cool or rainy,
there are plenty of indoor activities to do.
One of my favorite places is the Bishop Museum.
It is probably the best museum in Hawaii
and has exhibits about the Hawaiian culture,
sea life, nature, dinosaurs, and more.
They have many fun activities
for the KEIK'I ("children" in Hawaiian).
Another popular activity is shopping
at one of the many shopping malls.
My favorite was the Kahala Mall,
just south of Diamond Head Crater.
It has a more local flavor to it
and offers many shops selling locally-made goods.
I hope this little trip to Hawaii in our minds
helped you feel a little warmer.
See you next time!
