今日はJames先生より英語のTipのご紹介です！

先生が担当している中級クラスのレッスンの中から

自然な会話の流れを作るときに使える表現について書いてくれたのでぜひ皆様も使ってみて下さいね！

This is James from Australia!

When it's your turn to speak in a conversation, it's natural to use "connectors" first. Connectors describe how the topic immediately spoken about relates to what you are about to say. These help the listeners to understand the flow of conversation. Here are some examples of connectors:

So, ...

• To begin a conversation: "Hi Luke! So, did you watch a movie last night?"

• To explain the natural consequence of the previous topic: "There was a big typhoon on the weekend. So my flight to Australia was cancelled."

By the way, ...

• To contribute new facts or information to the conversation: "I heard that earthquakes can cause tsunamis!" "Oh! By the way, this morning's forecast warned us about a tsunami this weekend."

• When you suddenly remember a question: "My garden tomatoes have ripened!" "Oh! By the way, can you teach me how to grow carrots?"

Anyway, ...

• To make a conclusion with a more important point: "We can't go to the beach this weekend, the water is too cold. Anyway, it's going to rain all weekend."

• To change the topic: "... that's why I prefer cats over dogs. Anyway, are you hungry? Let's get lunch!"

There are various other connectors in English conversation, so I recommend you research them and practice using them in your conversations.

聞いたことある表現が出てきましたね！

実際に使うという時の違いなどを先生が紹介してくれましたよ！

最初は、soは、会話を始める時や直前に言った事柄の結果を話す時に使います。

By the wayは、たった今思いついた話題を出す時に使います。

それまで話していた内容に関連のある場合もない場合にも使うことが出来ます！

Anywayは、とにかく、いずれにしてもなど、結論を出す時に使います。

先に言ったことよりもこれからいう事の方が重要という意味合いがあります。

また、カジュアルな場面のみですが、話題を変える時にも使えるようです！
