少しずつ秋の気候になってきましたね！

ちょっと前までは、暑かったり寒かったりで気温の変化が激しく

体調管理が難しかったですよね。

豊洲校の先生も乾燥して咳をしている先生もいましたが

今は全員、元気です！

ところで、咳をしている時にトローチを舐めたら？と

おすすめすることもありますよね！

実は、トローチってカタカナ英語なんです！

英語では何て言うのでしょうか！？

Hello everyone! It's Anna, here to talk about another case of Japanese-English.

As the weather changes, sometimes people catch a head cold (鼻かぜ) when the cold air and temperatures set in. We just call it a head cold because there are only a few symptoms or problems - maybe people can have the sniffles (鼻をすする), maybe a cough, and a bit of a sore throat. It's nothing serious, and usually goes away in a day or two, but pretty annoying! I myself had a scratchy throat last week, and it was a little inconvenient. But, someone at school asked me if I had taken a troche, and I was very confused!

While "troche" (トローチ) may be a katakana word, it isn't commonly used in English, especially American English. In fact, it is a very specific medical term that only nurses or medical students would use with each other! So, it's very out of place in casual everyday conversation. Instead, we usually say "a lozenge" or simply "a cough drop."

So everyone take care, and keep some cough drops in your bag just in case you feel a cold coming on!

すぐに治ったようなのでよかったのですが！

鼻をすするはthe sniffles.と言います！
