My first Friendsgiving
Thanksgiving is an American holiday that is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday in November. It is a time to be thankful and to be with family. Every year my family gathers at my grandparents house, and usually there are around 20 or 30 of us. We spend all day eating (things like Turkey, mashed potatoes, pies, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce) , watching football, and just being together. Thanksgiving is like a warm up for Christmas, and its been hard for me not to be able to be with my family at this time.
However, this year I was able to celebrate my first Friendsgiving. Friendsgiving is a word we use when we celebrate Thanksgiving with our friends instead of our families. While nothing can compare to Thanksgiving with my family, I had a great time celebrating with my friends. Everyone brought food, and it was great to be able to eat things like mashed potatoes, stuffing, and meat with gravy.
In the future, I think I will look back on this time of my life and be grateful for all my experiences here, even the difficult ones. Being unable to be with my family has not only caused me to take a moment to be thankful for all the people in my life now, but also in the future I will never forget to be grateful for my huge, chaotic, loud, obnoxious, and yet truly wonderful family.
