Recently I`ve been studying Japanese more in my free time. I don`t have a whole lot of extra time during the week, but even so I try to go through some flashcards when I`m eating breakfast or look over my textbook at night before I go to sleep.
For me, one of the most difficult things about Japanese is the writing system. I can easily read and write Hiragana, but Katakana is still difficult for me to read and write. I like Kanji better than Katakana. Even though it`s difficult to learn so many Kanji I think that the charachters are beautiful.
As for pronunciation, I think Japanese has easier pronunciation than English because there are not as many sounds. But its still difficult for me to pronounce words like byouin and biyouin as different words. And whenever I say something is Kawaii, people always think I`m saying Kowai.
Even though it`s difficult I want to continue to study Japanese. Not only is it useful in my daily life, but it also helps me better understand my students.
