Back in early fall, I had the chance to visit Flower Park in Tochigi.
It was a spontaneous day trip that I surprisingly really enjoyed, as I do not know much about flowers and did not have any expectations.
I went there with my brother and two of his friends.
We met up bright and early at the car rental place.
We rented a car and drove all the way there.
Unfortunately, it started to rain on the way.
We were hoping for good weather as we were going to be outside for the whole day but luck was not on our side.
However, we did not let the weather stop us from enjoying ourselves.
We first stopped for lunch at a famous eel (unagi) restaurant.
The warm and delicious meal was perfect for the weather and put us in a great good mood.
With our bellies full, we continued on our way to the park.
We talked and laughed on the road and I eventually dozed off.
Once I opened my eyes, I realized that we had already arrived at our destination.
Thanks to the coupons that the restaurant gave us, we got our tickets at a discounted price.
We enjoyed walking around and looking at the variety of flowers.
There were so many different flowers that I have never seen before.
I also got to see a really tiny bird that was flapping its wings extremely fast.
I almost mistook it for a bee.
It was a hummingbird, I believe.
As the evening drew closer, the illumination exhibition started.
The whole flower park lit up and it was a spectacular sight.
My favorite part of the exhibition was the wisteria section.
The lights simulated the look of wisteria and moved in time with the music.
Apparently, the popular animation was inspired by it.
It was truly a beautiful experience.
We took some pictures and finished touring the place. Eventually, we had to get back to Tokyo and finished the day off with a scrumptious meal at Outback Steakhouse.
It was a nice day and I would love to go back again when more of the flowers will be blooming in spring.
