Foster Dogs
Hello everyone!
In America we have many pet dogs, but sometimes there are dogs that have no owner. The dogs that don`t have an owner live in the animal shelter. The shelter takes care of the dogs, but it is very small and crowded. To help the dogs many people take care of the dogs for a short time, while the animal shelter looks for a family to adopt the dog. The people that take care of the dogs for a short time are called foster families.
This year my family in the U.S. became a foster family. Once a month, my mom goes to the animal shelter and picks up a dog to take care of and brings them to our house. When the dogs are living with us my brothers and sisters take care of the dog. Every day the dogs need to be given food and water, taken for walks, and to be played with. They also need lots of hugs and dog treats, and as much love as they can get.
Right now my family is fostering a dog named Jake, who is a Grand Pyrenees/Greyhound mix. He is very quiet and gentle, but loves to run and chase squirrels. He`s a tall dog and he often takes up an entire sofa in our living room. My family is working hard with the animal shelter to find him a new home, and hopefully he`ll be able to find a permanent family to celebrate Christmas with.
How about you, do you have any pets? What do you like to do to help your family or friends? Let me know anytime before or after lessons!
