For Golden week I traveled to Hakone and Kyoto with my best friend from back home.
I really enjoyed visiting both cities.
The natural beauty and peacefullness made it well worth the long train ride from Tokyo, and I really enjoyed walking around in the cool mountain forests.
Visiting Kyoto was an overwhelming experiance becuase I was surrounded by so much traditional Japanese culture and so many people from all over Japan and the World.
This was my first time to travel extensivily in Japan, and it made me appreaciate the convenience of the Shinkansen.
In America we drive most places, and traveling by car is so much less comfortable than by bullet train.
It was also my first time showing someone else around Japan.
Though I still have much to learn, I was able to help my friends stay go more smoothly.
Watching her fumble with chopsticks and numerous Japanese coins reminded me of what it was like when I first came here and how far I have come.
