Brothers on Boxing Day
Hi everyone, it's Kenn here!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to a relaxing and joyous New Year's as well! I am fortunate enough to be able to spend this holiday season with my brother, who has come from Australia to visit me again this year. Today is the 26th, which means he and I are actually on a trip in Tokyo at the moment - we had been planning this trip since September so we were really excited for it.
Speaking of December 26th, did you know that in some countries (including Australia), it is a special holiday too? It's called Boxing Day. To tell you the truth, I don't exactly know what this day is supposed to celebrate, but on the day after Christmas, people are supposed to pack the decorations and presents away for next year. Most people keep their decorations in boxes, so that's why it's called Boxing Day, apparently.
My family didn't used to celebrate Christmas so seriously, but I think recently, as my brother and I get older, and there are fewer and fewer chances for the whole family to reunite, the Christmas season has become a much more significant part of my life. It's something I feel myself enjoying more and more each year. We usually use the week between Christmas and New Year's recuperating from and reflecting on the year that past, and looking forward to the year ahead.
With that said, I wish you all a super happy new year from the bottom of my heart and I hope to see you all refreshed and ready to study even more English in 2020! Have a safe and relaxing winter break, everyone! Stay tuned!
