Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you`re having a great Christmas!
In America Christmas is a time we spend celebrating with our family, and even though I`m really happy to be able to share Christmas with everyone here, I`m very sad to be away from my family.
I want to share a picture of my family from last Christmas with you, and also tell you a little about how my family celebrates. This picture was taken on Christmas Eve last year. Christmas Eve is a really important day. This picture was taken right after we got home from Church. In America, churches usually offer both Christmas Eve and Christmas services.
After church, we have dinner as usual. Then we ( the kids) open the presents under the tree that are from my parents or other family members. Every year my parents give a new set of pajamas and a small gift. After that, we change into our new pajamas and watch A Christmas Story. My family watches A Christmas Story every year on New Year`s Eve. After the movie, we make Reindeer food and sprinkle it all over the front yard. Reindeer food is just dried oats with sprikles mixed in. We put it out for the Reindeer so they can also have a snack. When we`re done with that we put out a plate of cookies and a glass of milk for Santa, because he also needs a snack. Then we all sit togethor while my mom reads the poem The Night Before Christmas. Finally we all say goodnight to my parents and rush off to bed.
Celebrating Christmas eve is really important because it helps everyone get really excited for Christmas. Christmas and Christmas Eve are celebrated a little differently in every family, so please feel free to celebrate Christmas any way you want to, and don`t be afraid to create your own traditions.
