The Dog Ate My Homework
Hi everyone, Jade here! Hope you’ve had a wonderful start to the week.
This week I’d like to talk to you about homework.
Now, I know what you’re thinking – and I agree, it isn’t the most exciting topic in the world – but I promise that it is one of the most important.
Now, many people, myself included, will come up with every excuse under the sun to avoid doing their homework
- one of the most famous in America being that ‘the dog ate my homework’,
but I promise you, the only person losing out when not doing their homework is you.
Here are my 3 reasons why…
1. It will help you to achieve your English goals faster.
2. It will help me, as your teacher, to help you with the areas that you find difficult or struggle with.
3. Not doing your homework can actually make you regress. As you know, ‘practice makes perfect’, and ‘If you don’t use your English, you’ll lose your English’,
meaning that you’re more likely to forget what you learn in class, if you don’t actively practice.
So, the next time you think about not doing your homework. Ask yourself this:
Do I want to forget all of the English I’ve learnt so far?
If the answer is yes – go to bed early.
If the answer is no, get out your workbook and study your English.
‘Every excuse under the sun’ – an idiom meaning nearly everything reason a person could imagine
‘the dog ate my homework’－an idiom used as a poor excuse for not doing ones’ homework.
‘Regress’ – a verb meaning ‘to return to a previous state or get worse’.
‘If you don’t use your English, you’ll lose your English’ – Jades take on the idiom ‘if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it’.
