All Tied Up

Hi everyone, it's Kenn here.

I have several different colored neckties. It's a comparatively small collection compared to a lot of people, but I'm very particular about the ties I choose to use. When I get a new tie, either from a shop or from someone I know, it needs to be distinctly different from any tie which I already own, or I will immediately dislike it - call it a pet peeve, perhaps. I only have seven ties, and I think none of them can be called my favorite.

When I got my first ever tie (a blue one which was unfortunately torn and destroyed), from my dad, he told me that choosing a tie to wear to work in the morning was the most important choice in a normal day. He said that a man's tie reflects his mood and behavior for the entire time he wears it, so the blue tie he gave me was meant to represent cool-headedness and rationality. In total, my dad had around 20 ties, but most of them were different shades of the same three colors.

I totally didn't (and still don't) believe what my dad said to me though - as I mentioned earlier, I select my ties based on balancing with the rest of my wardrobe. If I have been using one specific tie a lot, I'll try to switch to one that I haven't used in a while. Often, this means my ties are just on rotation, but once in a while, I remember what my dad said and pick a tie to wear depending on how I feel that day.

Actually, I read somewhere that a person's tie is what most people notice first when you see someone for the first time in a day. This basically means that ties are super important for making positive first and lasting emotions. I still don't have a favorite tie myself, but based on personal experience, I know exactly which one attracts the most attention: my red one. People say I have an affinity for the color red, so maybe I should just stick to what looks good on me.

What do you think? Is the red one really the best fit for me? I'm sure you have all seen the other ones in my collection too, so which do you like the best? How big is your own collection? 5 or 10 ties? Maybe 20, like my dad? Let's tie the knot on this topic for today and we can discuss it more next time we see each other. Thanks for reading as always and stay tuned!
