【Susan's blog】初めてのおせち料理が楽しみです♪
Hello, Susan here.
Do you have any plans for the
upcoming New Year holiday?
While I usually head home for
the holidays, this year, due to Covid-19,
I won`t be able to return to
my hometown - Seattle.
As with many people, the holidays
just won`t seem the same this year.
I usually celebrate Christmas with
my parents. And, the holidays also
provide a wonderful time to catch up
with my friends from back home.
But, this year, my husband and I will
be celebrating the holidays together
in Japan. And, while I have lived in
Japan for quite some time, I have never
experienced eating osechi.
Can you believe that? I`m so excited to
take part in this wonderful Japanese
tradition. I know each food has some
symbolic meaning. I`ll try to see if I can
identify what the meaning is for each item.
Also, I can`t wait to see
the food presentation.
In Japan, food presentation is like a piece
of artwork - the colors, textures and
seasonal representations
- are amazing! I so love it!
Please tell me what you have planned
for your holiday. I so look forward to
hearing your story. And, whatever you do,
please stay safe. But, most importantly,
I hope you find joy during your holiday
and have a Happy New Year!
