長文読解チャレンジ!【後編】”Michael FAQ”
What are my real hobbies?
-Obviously what's written in my wall profile at the school isn't real. That was just a joke that one of the staff wrote up. I don't really like or listen to Kana Nishino. The eating out part is true because I don't like cooking and the food in Japan is great and I often explore new places to eat which are unique. I also like going and exploring cafes because I used to be a barista in Australia. Also I like reading books and listening to audio courses
What book do I recommend reading?
-I have a lot. But right now as I write this, I'm currently reading (The New) Psycho Cybernetics. I read multiple books several times over though.
What movie do I recommend for studying English?
-Crocodile Dundee. If you can watch this straight through and understand everything without subtitles, you are ready for the full blown raw Australian accent!
Where is my favorite place in Japan?
-This is hard but I get asked this a lot. I narrowed it down to top 3.
Ginza, Shibakoen and Minato Mirai.
Can I speak Japanese?
-No I don't- so please don't try me! :p
Next!
What's my favorite Japanese expression?
-My favorite is definitely... wait a minute, I said I don't speak Japanese! Skip!
Since I don't actually like Kana Nishino - who is my real favorite singer?
-Van Tomiko. She is actually a Japanese singer. But depending on your generation, you may or may not have heard of her.
What is my favorite textbook?
-Checkpoint for sure. The characters are colorful, interesting and the book has both business and personal English (just like Viewpoint). It also has some of the most important grammar points that you use in almost every sentence, like To-Infinitives, Pronouns, and of course, the ever elusive grammar point - Articles. I recommend even the most advanced students at the highest levels to go back to this text book every now and then just to refresh. I do like Rena from Viewpoint though, the voice actress really nailed her character well.
What's my favorite Self Study Material?
-Ginza Talks (a.k.a the Speech Contest) and Free Writing & Topic Talk スラスラ.(I helped develop it myself!) as well as the IELTS version.
That's all for now. I might come up with a part 2 if I end up remembering some more.
If you have any you can think of, just talk to me in the lobby anyway.
See you next time,
Michael
