How we spend New Years in the US!

Hi everyone,
it is me, Ricky!
Today I will be talking about
how people in the US spend New Years!
New Years in America is,
for most people spent
at home with families.
For some,
they go to big parties to celebrate,
but most people,
will spend it with family.
A lot of tv channels
will have the countdown going on,
Giving many options to
a person on what kind of
entertainment they want to see.
Most will have different types
of concerts and performances
to enjoy.
The most famous countdown
is the one in New York Time Square,
famous for the ball.
There in New York,
many people will gather
for the countdown,
or wait for the ball to drop!
For those of us who stay at home,
one of the most common
traditions we have is to say cheers.
As the New Year happens,
and everyone says Happy New Years,
we will get glasses to say cheers with.
After, some families who
do not live in the big cities
to watch big displays
would shoot fireworks at home.
Sometimes in a community,
many families would gather
and shoot fireworks
they individually bought.
For example,
my family and our neighbors
always gathered together to do this.
It was tradition to take the kids
shopping for fireworks
and try to pick
what we think would be the best.
So for us,
New Years is a time
to celebrate with loved ones,
much as it is here in Japan.
Thank you for taking the time to read,
and have a great new year.
