Today I will teach you
some English idioms.
The first idiom is
'hit the nail on the head',
this means to do something
perfectly.
The flat part of a nail used
for building is called the head.
If you hit it on the head
with hammer,
you will do the task perfectly.
The second idiom is
'hold your horses',
which means stop and wait.
This is usually used
when someone is rushing
into something.
The origin of this phrase is
unknown but it's probably
related to horse riding
or horse drawn carriages.
The third idiom is
'break a leg',
which means good luck.
In the theatre
it is considered unlucky
to say 'good luck' to a performer.
Therefore,
it became common
to say 'break a leg' instead.
These days,
it is also said outside
the theatre
as another way
of saying good luck.
I hope that now
you can be comfortable
using these idioms
