Sarah's blog-Activities at Home
Hello!イーオン日立校ブログです!
残り少なくなってきました、Sarah先生のブログ(>_<)お家の中でできるアクティビティについてです!
Dear readers,
How are you this week? I hope you're doing well and that you're not too worried about recent events. I've been preparing for my move to Tokyo recently and sorting out all of my belongings! It's a lot of work but I'm making progress.
(皆さんが最近の物事に動揺しすぎていないか心配です。私は東京に引っ越す準備を進めています。)
In light of the recent outbreak of coronavirus, today I thought I'd talk about what I usually do indoors. Although it's fun to go out for shopping, eating, or other events, you can always have plenty of fun inside too when you're worried about visiting crowded places.
When I stay home for the day, there are many things I like to do.
My most time-consuming activity is watching drama. I watch a lot of long, epic Chinese dramas which are usually fifty episodes or more. They're really exciting and keep me engaged for hours on end! These days, we have a phrase in English: "binge-watching". It means watching episode after episode without a break. If my drama is exciting, I'll watch it all day!
On top of that, I love listening to the radio. I don't like being by myself, and the radio makes me feel more connected to people. I like hearing other people's voices. I listen to the BBC world service a lot which helps me stay up to date on global affairs. They also have some educational programs which are really interesting! If I'm bored, I switch to Al Jazeera which is another good international news network.
(その上、私はラジオを聞くことが大好きです。私はBBCワールドサービスを聞いて、色んな海外の出来事を知ったりします。教育系の番組もあって面白いです!)
Of course, sometimes when I'm at home I also study Japanese. I use textbooks for practice my grammar, and I often watch youtube videos of people explaining grammar points. There are some great youtubers for language learning, and they're fun to watch.
I occasionally try my hand at cooking when I'm at home all day. I don't usually enjoy cooking very much, but if I have a lot of time it's nice to try making something new. I always feel accomplished if I succeed at making a new dish!
On top of all that, being at home for the weekend is a good chance to catch up with my friends in other countries. I have a group of friends who I met at university in Japan, who are from all over the world! One is in the UK, one in Finland, and one in Australia. Finding the right timing is difficult, but once in a while we love to make a group video chat. We usually talk for three or four hours!
So if you're going to stay at home a lot this week, make sure to keep busy and have fun! I hope you enjoyed hearing about what I do behind closed doors at the weekend.
Have a nice day, and take care!
All the best,
Sarah
