今日のテーマはNate先生のHometown、『Chicago』です☆

My hometown is Chicago, Illinois. It`s a famous city for architecture, food, and sports.
Often when students find out I am from Chicago,
they ask me about the wind.
Chicago`s nickname is "The Windy City". Even
the newspaper said that Chicago is famous for
strong winds.
The truth is Chicago is not very windy at all. I also lived in California and Texas and they were both windier than Chicago. The nickname “The Windy City” is a metaphor for lying.
An English idiom for lying is “blowing smoke” or “blowing wind”. Chicago is famous for corrupt politicians.
People say the politicians are always “blowing wind” (lying). That`s why it`s “The Windy City”! So next time someone says it`s windy there, tell them they are “blowing wind”.
