Hello! This is Brendan. How are you?

Rainy season is finally over and it's summer vacation!

So today I want to teach 5 English phrases you can use to talk about Summer!

1.とっても暑いときに使える scorcher

To talk about high temperatures you can say "It's hot today".

For a VERY hot day you can use the phrase "It's a scorcher!"

Or "It's scorching outside!"

2.Seaは海でボートに乗っているときだけ使う！

In English we don't usually use the word "sea" unless we are on a boat in the ocean.

We usually use the word "beach" to talk about sandy areas near the ocean.

例） "Let's go to the beach!"

3.日焼けは"sunburn"

When you are out in the sun too long and your skin turns red we call that "sunburn"

例） "I forgot my sunscreen and got really bad sunburn last weekend!"

4.涼みたいときは"cool down" , "cool off"

Sometimes in English we use the phrase "cool down". We also use the phrase "cool off".

例） "I go swimming when I want to cool off on a hot day."

5.少しだけ泳ぐときは"take a dip"

One phrase we use when swimming is to "take a dip".

That means to swim for a short time.

例） "I'm going to take a dip in the pool to cool off."
