The word "as" has many uses in English.

It's very useful but also very difficult to remember!

So today I want to talk about how we use "as" in English!

First we use "as" to compare two things.

When two things are the same we can say "A (be verb) as (adjective) as B (be verb)".

For is example "He is as tall as she is."

or "This car is as expensive as that car is."

When two things are not the same we add "not".

For example "He is not as tall as she is."

or "This car is not as expensive as that car is."

As can also be used when two things are happening at the same time.

For exampe "She listened as I sang her favorite song."

Or "As you get older your hair starts to turn grey."

In a formal situation "as" can also be the same as "because."

For example "As I am from America, I like football."

or "As I am sick today, I didn't go to work."

There are even more ways to use "as" so let's try to study and practice them all!
