I am studying Japanese in my free time.
I recently took part in speech contest
which inspired me to study more.
At home I have a collection of books
for beginner Japanese learners.
I have had them for about a year
but I was too intimidated to try reading them.
After collecting a lot of dust on my shelf,
I finally decided to try reading one.
I was immediately surprised
at how much I understood.
I didn't need to look up
any translations either!
(Although, this is partially
thanks to the previous owner writing
some translations to the more difficult
words like 'cut'.)
It took me about half
an hour to read the full twenty pages.
Once I finished it,
I was so proud of myself!
Now I have decided to read the rest
of the books I have
and make notes of the vocabulary
I don't know.
I highly reccommend reading books
in English - whatever your level.
It's a fun way to improve your reading skills,
test your grammar and vocabulary
knowledge and learn new words.
It's also very rewarding.
I hope this inspires you
to try reading a book in English.
