Christmas in my Hometown
Hello everyone! It's Laurel, and today it is (almost) Christmas!
Christmas is very popular in my hometown; people often decorate in October for Christmas, and many businesses close early on Christmas Eve and re-open on the day after Christmas.
In many families, people get together for Christmas dinner. The meal is very similar to Thanksgiving dinner, actually! Gifts are usually opened in the morning, so families can spend the day together.
In my family, we have two or three gatherings around Christmas! In the week before Christmas, we go to my grandfather's house. The kids get lots of toys and clothes, and the adults get money, and we all sit around and have snacks and cake--because my father's birthday is just before Christmas!
On Christmas Eve, my dad and I will have snacks and watch movies, and give simple gifts. The next day, we have breakfast with our family, have a nap for lunch, and then meet with the family again for dinner! It's busy, but very fun! What do you do for Christmas? This year, I think I'll have chicken and cake!
Thank you for reading! See you next time!
