Dragonfly Land
Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer vacation. This is Steven here with another entry and today I want to focus on something which has become a recent obsession of mine.
I am from the UK and the weather where I live is mild and temperate for the most part, given a few hot days in summer or the cold nights in winter. As a result, the natural surroundings seem to match this description and we lack any exotic flora or fauna (plants or animals), unlike other countries.
During my experience here in Japan, I have been fascinated and captivated by the humble Dragonfly! They appear to be absolutely everywhere I go; in the parks, through the forests, out on the streets... and I can't stop watching them! They have such a graceful movement and, unlike the noisy cicadas which briefly populate the summertime, they move in silence through the air, but so rapidly! I heard that Dragonflies can travel at up to speeds of 50 kph (kilometres per hour)!
I hope you enjoy my picture of the dragonfly I found in Yamadera. It's almost like he was posing for the camera! I love the icy blue colour of this particular dragonfly - but I can assure you I took many more photos, and some are red, green, brown, dark blue... I am sure there's black ones and white ones and everything in between!
Thanks for reading! I'll speak to you again soon.
All the best!
Steven
