Lucky Me!
Hi everyone, it's Kenn here!
Happy New Year!
Now, you're probably thinking: "Kenn, isn't February a little late to still say that?" And I totally agree with you! Unless we're talking about Chinese New Year, which at this point in time is, ironically, also finished. But I digress! I'm going to talk about the significance of this year for me specifically, and I hope you'll be able to understand my point of view.
So as we all know, this year is the Year of the Rat, according to the Chinese Zodiac, and it just so happens that I was born in the Year of the Rat. My family, who comes from a Chinese background, always makes a BIG deal out of Chinese New Year because it is China's most important public holiday period. The drawing that you see in the picture for today's post was actually drawn by my brother while he was staying with me. Many of my family members have sent me their messages wishing me good luck in the following year. My mother even made me a lucky charm to wear on my bag which is in the shape of a rat - maybe you'll see it sometime!
I feel very blessed to have such a caring family. Even though I try to do the best that I can without relying on good luck to pull me through, it's still nice to know that I can (supposedly) get a lot of it this year. I would love to talk about Chinese New Year with everyone more in person too - it's a really important time for Chinese people with a long history of fun traditions and amazing food! I wish you all a fantastic Year of the Rat, and especially good luck to my fellow Rats out there! Thanks for reading and stay tuned!
