Thanksgiving!
Hello, it's Laurel today!
I'm back to talk to you about Thanksgiving.
This year, it fell on November 26th; the date always changes for Thanksgiving, but it's always on the same day every year--the last Thursday of November.
In the U.S., in many families, it's common to father with your family for a big meal. Often, people will spend all day preparing the meal!
Cooking it can take a very long time--between cooking turkey and making a ton of side dishes--but the hard work is always worth it in the end! Dishes sometimes depend on where you live, but usually turkey or ham is served--along with side dishes that might include mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing (or dressing, if you're in the South), cranberry sauce, and so on.
Often, there are many desserts served, too; pumpkin pie, pecan pie, apple pie, sweet potato pie, chocolate pie. My favorite is pecan pie--it's so delicious!
Lately, younger people also gather with their friends to celebrate, for an event called Friendsgiving. This is a good option for people who can't travel to see their families but still want a fun and delicious feast! Thank you all for reading today! See you next time!
