Hello everyone,

Many of my students want to know more about

my country, so I've decided to start a history

series about Jamaica.

I'll talk about music, money, culture etc.

The first topic in this series is Electricity.

Let's get started.

みなさん、こんにちは！

多くの生徒様がジャマイカについて知りたい

ということで、ジャマイカについての歴史シリーズ

を始めることにしました！

音楽やお金、文化などについて話そうと思います。

最初のトピックは"電気"です。

それでは始めましょう！

Jamaica has a monopoly electrical company now,

however electricity came to Jamaica around 1893

which was only about 13 years after the electric

lamp was invented.

The Waterloo Guest House in Black River

(one of the oldest towns in southern Jamaica)

was the first house to receive electricity in Jamaica.

Do you know where in Japan was the first to

receive electricity?

I'd love to know.

ジャマイカに電気の会社は1つだけですが

白熱灯が発明されてから13年後の1893年に

電気が通りました。

ブラックリバー(南ジャマイカの古い町のひとつ)の

ウォータールーゲストハウスはジャマイカで電気が

供給された最初の家です。

日本ではどこで最初に電気が通ったかご存知ですか？
