Before moving here, what was one thing you wanted to experience in Japan?
Hi everyone! Jessica here.
Did you know there are no hot springs in England?
We don't have any volcanoes, so there isn't anything underground to make hot springs.
Before I moved to Japan, I was really excited to go to a hot spring.
I had seen many hot springs in anime and animated movies , and they looked so relaxing!
I really wanted to go and try one.
However, I was really nervous too, because in England you never, ever take off your clothes in front of strangers!
Even in changing rooms at the swimming pool, many people get changed behind towels or in private cubicles.
We think it's really embarrassing and shocking to be naked around other people.
Luckily, when I went to a hot spring in Hakone, it wasn't embarrassing or awkward, and I really loved it.
When my parents visited, they wouldn't try it, though!
They thought it was too embarrassing.
We got a private room so that we could wear swimsuits instead.
It's funny how different English and Japanese cultures are about this.
