Festivals In My Hometown!
Hello everyone! Kyle here!
It's finally the end of the rainy season!
Have you been able to enjoy the sun lately?
Today I'd like to talk about festivals in my hometown, Edmonton, Canada!
My city is known in Canada for having a lot of festivals throughout the year!
In fact, one of my city's nicknames is "The Festival City"!
During the summer months, we have many festivals, but the two most famous ones are K-Days and Heritage Days!
K-Days is a festival held at the end of July that celebrates my hometown's history as a pit stop for people travelling to Northern Canada to pan for gold!
We celebrate the holiday with a 10 day long festival and carnival with lots of food to eat, rides to enjoy, and games to play!
We also have fireworks every single of the festival!
Heritage Days is a festival held in the beginning of August that celebrates the many different countries the people that live in my hometown come from!
We celebrate this festival by opening food stands that sell food from every single country in a large park!
There, you can try the cuisine of more than 200 countries!
It's one of my favorite things to do in the summer!
How will you enjoy the rest of summer?
I'd love to hear your responses the next time we meet!!
