日本で体験したいことを紹介してくれました!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone, my name is Kenn!

I helped out at AEON Shinagawa school last week.

Maybe you had a chance to talk with me!

You all probably don't know me very well, but I'm originally from Cairns, Australia.

It's a small tourist city in a tropical area, and is actually rather popular with Japanese people.

Being in a tropical area though, it means that the summertime can be brutally hot and muggy!

It's kind of similar to summer here in Tokyo, but the humid climate tends to last for a longer time in Cairns.

It's often said that rather than having the traditional four seasons, we only have two: the wet season and the dry season.

Now, as you probably already know,

summer and winter are reversed for Japan and Australia.

So while it's summer in Japan now, it's actually winter over there.

Winter in Cairns is actually part of our dry season, so it's my recommended time of year for you to visit!

Generally speaking though, the temperature doesn't really change all that much in Cairns.

Summer averages about 33 degrees while winter is around 25. That might sound a little strange to hear, but I think it's really convenient that I can wear the same kinds of clothes all year!

Growing up in this kind of hot environment meant I could go swimming every day - which is a good childhood memory of mine.

As I got older though, I was hoping to try more winter sports, which I obviously couldn't do, so that was one of the personal reasons which pushed me to eventually come to Japan.

I have definitely been enjoying the summertime activities in Japan too, like hiking and going to the beach. I hope to be able to go camping in Japan someday - another one of my childhood pasttimes.

Overall, it's really difficult for me to decide whether I prefer summer or winter - because I never really had it while growing up.

I think it's been a great experience for me personally to have lived in a place where the seasons are so distinguishable.

It's something I'll never take for granted. Thanks for reading my blog post, everyone! I hope you can visit Cairns someday and experience either the dry or wet season there. Take care, and stay tuned!
