Autumn vocabulary

英会話イーオン有楽町校のOlie先生です！

Autumn is here and to celebrate I want to share with you some of my favorite words and phrases used to describe this time of year.

The leaves turn
The leaves change color
"Autumn hasn't truly begun until the leaves have turned"

Warm autumnal colors
We say that reds, oranges, and yellows are "warm" colors
"I want to have lots of warm, autumnal colors in my living room"

Fall foliage
The collection of autumnal leaves
"Where should I go to see the best fall foliage?"

Leaf peeping
Autumn leaf viewing 紅葉見？？？
"I can't wait to go leaf peeping in New England this fall."

Crunching through the leaves
We call walking through autumn leaves "crunching" because it makes a crunch sound
"My favorite thing to do is to go crunching through the autumn leaves."
