Hello, Stephanie here!
One of my students asked me a great
question during our counselling session
week. She asked me what the most difficult
grammar topic was for my students.
My answer, articles!
For any student choosing
'a', 'an' and 'the'
are always difficult.
Here's a useful check list of common
mistakes when you're thinking,
article or no article?!
First mention (single and countable noun): I saw a cute Shiba puppy yesterday,...
One example out of a group (single and countable noun): I want to get a Bulldog.
Jobs: She's a dog trainer
Already mentioned: ...the Shiba was playing fetch.
Specific objects: I want the puppy rolling on the floor
If you can see the thing around you: Look at the puppies!
One of a kind: The Queen has Corgis.
Common places: Let's go to the dog park.
Non-specific objects (plural): Dogs are difficult to care for.
Non-specific objects (uncountable nouns): Dog food is delicious.
