In America, Thanksgiving is a popular holiday.
We eat special foods like pumpkin pie, roast turkey, sweet potato casserole, and cranberry sauce.
Most people only eat these foods for Thanksgiving, so that is why they are special. We eat a lot of food, but we also spend time with family.
Traditionally, families prepare the food and enjoy the big feast together.
We also talk about what we are thankful for, and what made us happy that year.
For example, some people are thankful for a job promotion, good friends, a happy family, or even good weather. It is a very positive holiday!
When people cannot celebrate with their family, we often have a "Friendsgiving" celebration instead. "Friendsgiving" is a dinner party with close friends, and the food is usually party food like fried chicken, ice cream, pizza, or soda.
Because I cannot celebrate with my American family this year, I will be having a "Friendsgiving" celebration.
Both Thanksgiving and "Friendsgiving" are enjoyable and positive celebrations!
I hope you can celebrate them one day, too!
