Dear readers,
In today's edition of YouTube Corner, I'd like to share a channel called Kurzgesagt, a German word for "In a Nutshell." This channel introduces scientific or political topics with easy-to-understand summaries and eye-catching animations. They cover topics such as neutron stars, ant megacolonies, organic produce, and string theory.
On top of being informative, the animations and illustrations make understanding what is being said by the narrator that much easier. This is especially handy when they use scientific words like "bacteriophage" or "magnetar." Their videos are usually less than 10 minutes long, which makes them easy to watch even when you don't have a lot of time.
In a Nutshell uploads one video per month, which is a tad slow. But you're sure to learn a lot about the world and a lot of new English words from each one, so I recommend it! The narrator also speaks in a European accent (the creators are from Germany) which should be helpful practice. The videos are released with English subtitles, and translations (including Japanese) are added later. If you need help understanding a confusing sentence, you can check the translation for some assistance.
That's all for this edition of YouTube Corner! If you check out their videos, please let me know next time you see me in the lobby! Next time, I'll talk about the U.S. Presidential Election! Look forward to it!
