今回はTucker先生が幼いころに見ていたTV番組についてです！

Dear readers,

When I was growing up, I would always watch TV with my mom and brother while eating dinner. We always watched the same shows, even when they started playing reruns. Today I'd like to tell you a little bit about the TV shows I watched when I was younger.

"The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" is a sitcom starring a young Will Smith playing a fictional version of himself. The premise is eloquently explained in the show's opening theme song, performed by Smith: after being born and raised in Philadelphia, he accidentally gets in a fight with a group of gangsters while playing basketball. His mother ships him off to Bel Air to live with his affluent aunt and uncle in order to keep him safe. Most of the humor comes from Smith's over the top performances, and the differences between his upbringing and those of his rich relatives.

"Law & Order" is a police and law drama set in New York. The first half of each episode follows detectives searching for evidence and apprehending suspects, while the second half focuses on the attorneys responsible for convicting them of the crime. Most of the time they are trying to solve a murder, but there is very little actual gore shown on screen. I found this show interesting because even as a child I could follow the story and what everyone was saying, and I learned some interesting words!

Both of these shows are highly rated staples of American media. It would be quite rare to find a person in America who hasn't seen or heard of them. I encourage you to watch them and learn things, just like I did! Unfortunately I don't think they are available on streaming websites like Netflix, but there are box sets are available on Amazon.

ニューヨークを舞台にした警察×リーガルドラマです。毎話、前半では探偵が容疑者につながる証拠を集めて、犯人の逮捕につながります。後半では容疑者を有罪にするべく奮闘する弁護士の様子を描いています。たいてい番組の大半は殺人事件を解決するところを描いているのですが、目を覆いたくなるような少々血生臭いシーンもあります。

私は子供ながらこのドラマを楽しんでいました。ユニークな言葉がたくさん出てくるので楽しかったですよ！
