Dear readers,

Today I'd like to talk about one of my hobbies. One of my favorite things to do when the weather gets warmer is go camping. My friends and I used to try to plan a camping trip every year. In recent years we've been too busy to go together, unfortunately. Now I live in Japan, so I don't think I'll be able to go on any future trips!

Each time we would choose a new place to go camping. They were usually different state parks throughout Wisconsin. One such park is called Devil's Lake. The eponymous lake is surrounded by two large cliffs with miles of hiking trails ready to be challenged. My friends and I like climbing the boulders at the bottom of one of the cliffs. We also went swimming in the lake and relaxed on the beach.

On other trips we've gone canoeing, sand dune hiking, and done lots of other fun activities. My favorite time is at night, when we gather around the campfire and cook dinner together. S'mores are also very important for a camping trip; you can't forget those. After dinner we would play games, sing along with the guitar, or tell stories.

It's not all fun and games though. I've definitely lost my glasses on a camping trip before, and we've been rained out more than once. But the positives outweigh the negatives for me. That's why I want to try going "solo camping" while I am in Japan. Biking out to a campsite for the night and enjoying nature sounds like a great way to spend a weekend. 今日は私の趣味の一つについて話したいと思います。暖かくなってきたらキャンプに行くことです。友人と毎年キャンプに行く計画を立てていました。

いつも私たちは新しい場所にキャンプに行くようにしています。ウィスコンシン中の違った場所に行きます。そのうちの一つがデヴィルズ湖です。ここでは2つの崖に囲まれたハイコングコースに挑戦できます。私と友人たちはその大きな岩に登ったり、湖で泳いで浜辺でリラックスしたりするのが好きです。

他にはカヌーに行ったり、砂丘ハイキングに行ったり、色んなアクティビティをしました。私のお気に入りの時間は、夜にキャンプファイヤーを囲んで一緒に夕食を作ることです。『スモア』もまたキャンプにはとっても大事なものの一つです。夕食が終わったらゲームをしたりギターにのせて歌ったり、お話ししたりします。

楽しいことばかりではありません。私は眼鏡をなくしたこともあるし、雨に降られたこともあります。でも、私にとってネガティブなことよりもポジティブなことの方が多くを占めています。なので私は日本にいるうちに「一人キャンプ」に挑戦してみたいです。自転車でキャンプ地に行って自然に触れることはとってもいい週末の過ごし方に思えます。もし、いいところがあったら教えて下さい！
