Dear readers,

I hope you're having a fine week! The weather has been quite nice - I can even see plum blossoms blooming in my neighbour's garden. Last weekend my friends came to visit from the UK, and we had a lot of fun in the sunshine sightseeing in Tokyo and visiting Disneysea.

You may have heard the news recently that I will be leaving Hitachi School at the end of March. I'm really sorry to have to announce this news, because I've had such a good time here! In today's blog, I'd like to explain why I'm leaving, and what I'll be doing next.

I've been teaching at Hitachi School for over two years now. I was nervous about teaching at first, but I became relaxed and confident quickly thanks to my great students and my encouraging coworkers. I've had some great times here, with various events, speech contests and parties. I still enjoy teaching English, and as such I'm going to remain an AEON teacher! I'll be transferring to AEON Shinagawa School, where I'll work from April onwards.

You might be wondering why I'm leaving Hitachi and going to Tokyo instead. Well, it's not because I'm tired of Hitachi! This is a small city but I've had fun here and made good friends. Actually, I'm moving to Tokyo because I'm planning to live with my boyfriend soon! It's an exciting time for me. We've been together for about four years, since I was a student in Japan, so I'm confident that I'll enjoy living with him. He works in central Tokyo and I'll work in Shinagawa, so we found a nice apartment in Meguro to the south west.

Right now, we're in the process of renovating our new apartment. My boyfriend is an interior designer with a background in architecture, and he made the designs for it. Last week, we knocked down a wall and some ceilings. This weekend we're going to paint the walls, and next week we'll fit the flooring! We're going to be very busy for the next two months, but hopefully the end result will be worth the effort! I'm really looking forward to living in a place we created ourselves.

When I move to Tokyo, I'd also like to take the opportunity to join a chorus and to take Japanese lessons. There will likely be more choruses and Japanese language schools in my new area compared to Hitachi, which will make it more convenient. I want to improve my language skills faster, because I'll be living in Japan for the foreseeable future!

Often, when AEON teachers move on, they go back to their home countries. Thankfully, however, I'm not moving far - only ninety minutes away! I plan to come to Hitachi on occasion to see friends, join the sakura marathon, and enjoy the festivals. I'll be a regular visitor, so with any luck I'll see you again sometime. Moreover, if you ever happen to be in Shinagawa and want to take an AEON lesson there, I could end up being your teacher!

Anyway, I still have a month and a half left at Hitachi School. Let's have a lot of fun during this time, in lessons, in the lobby and at parties. Speaking of which, have you signed up for our farewell party yet?

Thank you for reading! Have a great day.

All the best,

Sarah
