Jesse's blog 47 - Brother
In the past, I have written blogs about people in my family. Today I'm going to talk about my brother.
My brother and I are very close in age. He is less than two years older than me. A lot of people say we look similar, but there are a few big differences. My brother is a little taller than I am, and he has blue eyes, like my mother. My father and I have brown eyes. My brother's hair is also more blonde than mine.
We might look a little similar, but we have very different personalities. The first difference people notice, is that my brother never drinks alcohol. He gets sick from just a small amount, so he really doesn't like it. Of course, the rest of my family drinks too much! My brother is also much quieter than I am. He is usually uncomfortable around people, and prefers to stay home reading books, or playing with his camera. He loves photography, and takes a lot of pictures.
In high school, my brother was a little lost. He wasn't very good in school, and he wasn't very good at sports either. He had trouble finding friends, and generally didn't know where he belonged in the world. My parents convinced him to join the school play, and he did, but not as an actor. He was in charge of the lights.
However, he enjoyed being part of the play. The next year he joined as an actor, and they actually gave him the lead role in West Side Story, which is a musical play. He loved it, and made a lot of friends for the first time. After that he took singing and dancing lessons, and got really involved in the drama department at school. Eventually he went to university for drama, then he lived in New York City for 10 years trying to be a Broadway musical actor. He didn't become famous, but he was involved in a lot of shows. His favorite job was on a Disney cruise ship travelling in the Caribbean. The ship performed The Little Mermaid every night, and he played Prince Eric.
It took some time, but he eventually found a place where he belongs. He married an actress from one of the shows he did, and eventually they moved to Chicago together. They stopped acting and both became teachers, and now they have two children, a 6 year old boy named Marcus and a 3 year old girl named Ella-Jane.
To be honest, I think my brother is kind of boring, because we don't have any shared interests or hobbies. Still, I like him, and I'm happy his life is going well. I wish I could sing as well he does too!
PS- I'm writing this on Thursday, January 24th. That's 15 days after the start of my diet, and my weight has gone from 99.2kg, to 92.2kg. I'm so hungry!
