Hello, everyone! Patricia here~
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer holidays! One of the holidays during this time is "Mountain Day". You probably know that Japan has officially celebrated this holiday since 2016. But did you know that there is also "Mountain Day" in some places in the United States, and an International Mountain Day as well?
The US Mountain Day is not an official holiday, but started in the 1850s when some university students decided that it was a good day for a hike. And the International Mountain Day was created by the United Nations to fall on the 11th of December and celebrate mountain sustainability.
What do you like to do on Mountain Day in Japan? Please tell us after the summer holidays here at AEON Nagaoka!
