National Crawfish Day

Hello, everyone! Patricia here~
In my last blog, I talked about trying the local cuisine and experience a culture through food, so today I'd like to introduce you to "National Crawfish Day"! A crawfish boil is one of the foods that are traditionally enjoyed in the American south, but can be eaten anywhere you can find crawfish!
A crawfish is a type of shellfish that is easily found in the rivers in the southern States. It often goes by other names, such as a ditchbug, crayfish, or crawdaddy. It looks a bit like a small lobster, but it tastes closer to shrimp. And it is excellent with a lot of spice. Its so popular, it even has its own day, April 17th!
Are there any foods that you think are deserving of their own holiday? Please, let us know the next time you come to see us here at AEON Nagaoka.
