A Different Christmas2017.12.16(00:00)

Since it is my first Christmas in Japan, it's interesting to see what the differences between an American Christmas and a Japanese Christmas are. For example, in America, people usually cook and don't resort to fast food chicken boxes. I was amazed at how many people schedule pre-made meals ahead of time. Also, in America Christmas is a family reserved for family. So it was a little strange to hear that Christmas in Japan is more of a romantic holiday. I usually spent Christmas with my family, and New Years celebrating with friends. Not many people buy Christmas presents for their loved ones either. I usually bought presents for my family on Black Friday so I could save money, but not many of my students are buying presents for many people. Still, I'm glad I get to spend my Christmas with people I care about, and I can't wait to experience other holidays here as well!
