Recently I haven’t been cooking a lot and have been eating a lot of instant food. This week, I finally made the decision to try and cook properly a little more, since there were so many benefits to it. After all, the feeling of eating something delicious you made yourself is completely unique.
 
When I first came to Japan, I made a goal to learn some Japanese recipes. I wanted to make something not too complicated, but also flexible. That’s why I had a go at making oyakodon. Actually, this was the second time I tried to make it, but the first time was such a terrible failure that I was nervous to try again…
 
The last time I tried to make it, I was not very used to Japanese cooking, so basically everything went wrong. This time however, I learned from my mistakes and it came out exactly how I expected. It tasted great as well – it gave me a sense of pleasure to know I could do this again anytime in the future.
 
I had a lot of fun making oyakodon, and of course, I enjoy making other food as well. How about you? What can you make? Have you ever completely messed up a dish like I have? That’ll be all for today though. Thanks for reading and stay tuned!
